Small Craft Breweries Gain Access to a Full Barrel of Employee Benefits

California Craft Brewers Association lowers minimum number of full-time employees required for medical benefits through the CCBA Employee Benefits Trust

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 31, 2018)

Craft brewery owners know how difficult it is to obtain employee medical coverage. Fortunately, a recent eligibility change in the California Craft Brewers Association’s (CCBA) Employee Benefits Trust will provide small breweries with another option to cover their employees.

CCBA member breweries with 5 or more eligible, full-time employees may now request a medical quote to participate in the CCBA Employee Benefits Trust. This is a significant decrease from the previous requirement for 10 or more full time employees. Additional eligibility requirements and benefits can be viewed at CCBA Trust’s site by clicking on Get A Quote.

“CCBA members have been asking for this change for some time,” said Bo Lebherz, craft beer benefits practice leader, HUB International. “Both the CCBA Trust team and HUB worked hard to negotiate this positive change with the insurance carriers, and we are excited to make it happen. It’s a wonderful opportunity for craft breweries who have not been eligible before to enjoy the great benefits the CCBA Trust offers.”

With California craft breweries supporting nearly 50,000 full-time jobs, the new minimum is a welcome change. Smaller breweries will now have the help they need in securing solid and affordable employee medical coverage. The California Craft Brewers Association invites members to learn more about the CCBA Trust advantages, including the following

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits
  • Access to an integrated benefits administration system
  • Help with federal and state regulatory compliance issues
  • Favorable large group premium rates as a member of CCBA Trust
  • Ongoing support with employee benefits communications
