CA Economic Impact

California is the birthplace of the American craft brewing movement and continues to shape the industry. Today, more breweries call California home than any other state in the nation.

CCBA’s brewery members and craft beer enthusiasts play an important role in supporting the economic engine in California.

As of January 2024, more than 1,100 craft breweries are in operation across the state, more than any other state in the nation.

In 2023, craft breweries contributed $8.9 billion to the state’s economy. Together the industry supports more than 49,476 jobs across the state.

The California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA) is a 501(c)6 nonprofit trade association representing the craft and specialty brewing industry in California. The primary function of the CCBA is to monitor legislative activity at the state Capitol and provide a single and coherent political voice that represents and protects the interests of all California craft breweries. The CCBA’s mission is to connect and empower the craft brewers of California through advocacy, education and communication.
