At the Summit: Inspiration, Techniques and Brewing Expertise
There are a few sessions you should not miss at the California Craft Beer Summit this year, specifically if you work as a head brewer, assistant brewer or soon-to-be brewer in California.
An interactive session on Thursday, September 7 will allow you to “Ask the Brewmaster” about specific techniques and skill sets that have driven Stone Brewing Co., Rare Barrel and Bear Republic Brewing Co. towards excellence and innovation.
From there, wander through the expo hall to learn from the head brewer at Jester King how she cut her teeth in the brewing scene of California or pair beers with foods (packaged, fresh or otherwise) to improve your palate.
Friday, September 8 has an entire track dedicated to brewing – from identifying and selecting hop aromas (Flavor Training by Cicerone: Hop Aromas) to harnessing the power of scholastic research to improve R&D and innovation at your brewery (Research that Improves Everyday Brewing) and don’t miss the educational sessions available to brewmasters across the West Coast. Plus the expo hall on Friday is full of some great names for great learning: Chris White of White Labs, Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada and even the patriarch of the craft brewing movement, Charlie Papazian.
